Vietnamese fashion designer Phan Dang Hoang has unveiled his latest collection, "ZigZag," featuring traditional Vietnamese materials, at the Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2025 exhibition "The Soul of Nation".

The showcase takes place at the historic Palazzo dei Giureconsulti in Milan, Italy.

A tribute to Vietnamese heritage

Comprising 11 meticulously crafted designs, "ZigZag" highlights Vietnamese artisanal fabrics, embracing a muted color palette of black, gray, white, beige, sky blue, and brown - a reflection of global color trends for 2025.

The collection incorporates traditional Vietnamese textiles such as dui (silk linen), bamboo fiber fabric, and ramie silk - a fusion of green nettle fiber and silk. Additionally, Hoang integrates Japanese materials such as leather, chiffon, wool, and silk.

One of the standout inspirations behind "ZigZag" is Hoang’s deep admiration for Yen Thai dó paper, a 500-year-old Vietnamese papermaking tradition. His use of ramie silk, which shares similar properties with dó paper, serves as a tribute to this centuries-old craft.

Empowering Vietnamese femininity through fashion

Through "ZigZag," Phan Dang Hoang continues his dedication to celebrating Vietnamese culture, emphasizing the delicate yet resilient and sophisticated spirit of Vietnamese women. Each piece is designed to honor and reinterpret Vietnam’s rich heritage in a contemporary fashion landscape.

The collection has garnered significant attention from fashion experts and industry enthusiasts in Milan, reinforcing Vietnam’s growing presence on the global fashion stage.

A rising star in global fashion

Born in 2000, Phan Dang Hoang is a graduate of Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan, Italy. His talent was first recognized internationally in 2022, when he presented his Afro Fall/Winter collection at Milan Fashion Week, earning coverage in Vogue Italy.

In 2023, Hoang made waves with his "Sculpture" collection at Milan Fashion Week, further solidifying his reputation as an emerging designer to watch. In May 2024, he was named in Forbes Asia’s "30 Under 30" list in the Arts & Culture category, acknowledging his influence on the Asian fashion scene.
